EDIBLE LANDSCAPE DESIGN
We run a design and consultancy project that helps people to grow their own food in whatever sized space they have available, be it a window box or a ten-acre field.
On each design we take time to sit down with the client and get an understanding of their needs and desires so that together we can come up with something truly exciting and productive.
Our greatest skill set resides in perennial edible landscaping, for which we design with a whole ecosystems approach. This means that in each design we will consider how it will impact and sit within the local sun, rain, wind, nitrogen and carbon cycles as well as the type of soil and its fungal activity. We also look at which pollinators and other animals are in the locality, how to attract the beneficial ones and the aspect and elevation of the site. With this approach we are able to create intense low-maintenance systems that look after each other rather than compete against each other. We have installed edible, pollinator friendly flower beds, forest gardens with fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, perennial greens and medicinal herb beds and much more.
All of our designs not only increase yield for the gardener, but also the biodiversity, sustainability and soil health. On top of that we aim to make them as beautiful and interactive as possible and can build a variety of structures to sit within them; from raised beds to benches, living willow domes to ponds.
